Lafarge Tarmac’s spacious quarry was the setting for the recent record breaking Hillhead 2014 Exhibition which attracted over 450 UK and international suppliers of plant, equipment, materials and services for the quarry, construction and recycling industries.
There was also a huge presence of Northern Ireland manufacturers – 15 in all – demonstrating the fact that we have one of the world’s most successful clusters of engineering companies developing innovative solutions that are exported globally.
With economic recovery gathering momentum, particularly in the UK, and confidence returning to the mineral products industry, the organisers of Hillhead 2014 report that total attendance at this year’s event was 17,559.
No doubt encouraged by the growing sense of optimism in the sector, many of the visitors arrived with their chequebooks to hand ready to purchase the latest plant and equipment straight off the stands!
Plant & Civil Engineer’s Justin Carrigan spent the three days there finding out what’s new and what will be coming to the market shortly.
We have a comprehensive review of the show in the new print issue of Plant & Civil Engineer.
