#SafetyReboot2025 Initiative Returns in New Year

Safety Reboot, the CEF’s annual health and safety initiative, returns in January 2025. The initiative encourages the construction industry to stop for about fifteen minutes, once a week during January to focus on key areas of health and safety.

CEF surveyed members in August and the results were overwhelmingly positive with 88% of respondents agreeing that Safety Reboot was a useful and engaging initiative. Responses confirmed the centrally provided Safety Reboot resources enable the industry to provide a timely refresher on key risks to re-engage staff after the Christmas break to set them up for the year ahead.

Taking feedback on board, there will be some videos available and additional posters to ensure #SafetyReboot2025 is visible on site throughout January along with QR codes to make the resources more accessible.

Again, based on feedback from the survey, the 11 topics remain as these are seen as key areas of focus for the industry. Thanks to the CEF Health and Safety Committee who have reviewed and refreshed the resources, where possible, to ensure they remain current and reflect best practice.

Last year’s focus on mental health was welcomed and we will use #SafetyReboot2025 to continue to remind the industry of the Building Mental Health Alliance signposting service.

This year we are excited to announce we will also be collaborating with Niall Hollywood from Hollywood Fitness to highlight some positive steps every individual can take to promote their own wellbeing. The industry is encouraged to share the engaging videos of Niall as widely as possible through social media, company WhatsApp groups etc and include them in the stoppages with staff and the wider supply chain throughout January.

Jonathan Caughey, Federation Manager at the CEF, commented, “We are really excited that the industry will be again joining us by getting involved in #SafetyReboot2025. Health and safety is such an important part of every day on construction sites across Northern Ireland. Safety Reboot gives the industry the opportunity to demonstrate its commitment by reminding staff and the wider supply chain of the key messages to keep themselves and their colleagues safe and healthy. Use the resources provided and don’t forget to share how you get involved across social media using the hashtag #SafetyReboot2025”.
